– Real Tennis, The Idler Academy, Slide-show & Field Trip.

Real tennis (or simply tennis) is the oldest racquet game still played today. It is also known as royal tennis: Henry VIII famously played and two French kings lost their lives in tennis related incidents.

In May 2011, Danny Wootton, Angus Robertson and Johnny Borrell went on a narrowboat tour of the courts along the Thames. In the summer we gave a well attended slide show and talk at the Idler Academy, followed up with a field trip to Hardwick House in October 2011.

(A theory proposed during the Idler 'symposium' 2011, was later tested during a W & D delivery in 2012 .)
